l understand this would be a small symbolic action, but how can the points count if Shahar Peer was denied from playing in this tournament by the UAE based on her nationality. Do not allow her to be punished for this political action and reward discrimination.

If 1 player is discriminated against based on their ethnicity, religion and nationality then no one should profit.

UAE governments has a policy of barring Israeli athletes from playing in sporting events in their country.

l would really have liked the WTA have withdrawn the tournament from the calender and l hope they do in 2010. It is disappointing that some of the players did not withdraw from the tournament as a show of solidarity for Shahar Peer.

yes they should not count that event.. infact all the players who entererted that tournament should simply walk from it to stand up for her..

l completely agree with you. It is the *least* the WTA can do. The fact that they just accepted it without doing anything to try to change it - at least nothing I've heard of - is revolting. And, like l said in another answer, l always tend to side with the Arabs when it comes to the Israeli/Palestinian conflict. That was just ridiculous.

Tennis community is a tightly woven club, & every WTA player who is playing in Dubai was fully aware of Shahar is misfortunate incidence.Not only l blame UAE, WTA, but also all of 31+ Shahar is substitute players participating in the event. l am seriously asking every player to test & touch their heart & conscience..What is a true sportsmanship as a compassionate human being ? Is it the glory, $$ , ranking ?
For actions speak louder than mere sympathetic words. All of them should have walked away from this foolish event. l felt sick to see a photo of Serena socializing w/ a UAE official posted on sports section this morning !! Give me a huge break ! A heartless tennis player. l will never look at Serena with the same respect l once had anymore.

They can keep their prize $$$$$$$, but their points r worthless, IMO. Besides the Tennis Channel WILL NOT air their previously scheduled Dubai tournaments,..Cheers to their democratic principle !!

l think they should . l am mad that the WTA ia not doing anything about it. l at least think the players should boycott the event.
